Did you know...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
that Hans and Fitz from the episode Turtle Planet (1990) were parodies of the SNL characters Hans and Franz?
Tumblr media
The two popular characters, played by Dana Carvey and Kevin Nealon, were themselves parodies of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

By the way one direction inspired an entire generation of young teens to become artists, readers, writers, musicians, animators. 14 year olds were hacking into security cameras. Do you genuinely understand how hard that is? I literally have a tech degree and i still view hacking as too complicated. 14 year olds were in literal stem to watch one direction buy a bottle of shampoo. They have genuinely altered the courses of so many people's lives in terms of careers and long term hobbies. It was never just the music. I literally started reading by reading fanfiction. I am now a very active reader of many genres. I got a fucking tech degree because i wanted to see how it was done. Like its so unbelievably crazy. And they were massively bullied by the media and the rest of the world. They were ridiculed by the music industry. They were the biggest boyband on the planet and the only one that went as global as they did and they had them parody their own song 3 seperate times. They were never nominated for grammys as a group. They were genuinely never taken seriously and they changed the courses of young womens lives.

Wow, it's been a while since I drew something based on Sonic the Hedgehog!...
Well, well, I tried my hand at the Sonic Ova style a little, and I liked it!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, the world of Sonic Ova - Planet Freedom is for me the most beautiful, interesting and canon place, and I am very sad that this world did not and never received its continuation...
This whole story with Sonic living on Mobius or Planet Earth is some kind of nonsense to me, because when I see cultural inconsistencies in the Sonic canon (which does not exist?? wtf-) I feel almost physically ill. A lot of characters were lost, deleted despite games and comics.
Eggman as a character stands still, and Sonic's world is not even clearly divided into which states...
Sonic's Ova revealed its potential for me in one film - What happened to the people in the new territory of "Dark Eggman"? Was it the apocalypse? How long ago did this happen? Is this why people moved to the fly islands? Why did people acquire animal features (For example, Sarah's cat ears and tail)? Is this due to the merger with the "Mobians"? Were there anthropomorphic animals before the apocalypse, or are they a consequence of it? Maybe the reason?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What about Sonic and Tails' house? Damn, did you see this COOL DESTROYED PLANE?!? Now remember Tails' house from IDW comics, which is just a damn joke
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't love the damn Black Doom saga enough because it feels like a cheap Metarex parody. The only good thing Black Doom brought was the character Eclipse from Archie Comics -...Oh yeah, he doesn't exist anymore either. Like Cosmo.
Sally was a typical good character from the 97's who could stand up to the mouse from Chip 'n' Dale, but due to the company's negligence we have no SatAm ending, some kind of porn parody in Archie from Penderson, #Rally4Sally
No Sonic Ova, no completed Sonic Multiverse, there is no properly explained story of Silver, Blaze and Elise from Sonic 2006.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What about the fact that it was Sonic who was the Ultimate Life Form in the plot of SA2? What? Don't remember this? But what about the blue flask that fell to Earth and was considered lost? I congratulate you on the bad narrative of the SA1 and SA2 game series, friends...
Tumblr media
Sonic Ova and SA1-2 feels like the only correct versions, it pains me to see how Sonic’s character is now changing for a new audience and the psychopathic egoist and narcissist Sonic turns into a sweet and shy hero, although even taking into account the seemingly terrible and negative qualities, Sonic was a hero...
Changes have always been and will be, this is normal, I don’t want to shout that it was better before and the grass is greener, but for me the canon is only Sonic Ova vision, and I would like to add this vision for myself in my Sonic Ova AU. I think it would be fun. Just for me and my auditory...
So ... What do you think about all of this?

I wasn't sure what to make of "That's Amorte" before it aired. When signs pointed toward "the spaghetti comes from aliens," I wondered if we had a rehash of Futurama's "The Problem with Poppers," where the crew finds a delicious treat on a planet only to learn that the "popplers" are underdeveloped alien offspring.
Rick and Morty's take on Soylent Green also seemed likely. Everyone knows the twist: Soylent Green is people! A dark sci-fi concept like that could be a ripe parody for this series.
However, "That's Amorte" adapted a concept that other shows have referenced a thousand times and took a right turn. No one's angry at the humans for eating their suicide victims: in fact, they love the spaghetti and turn it into a corporate product.
This is an obvious shot at capitalism and how companies will destroy the environment, brutally slaughter animals and turn cities into concrete wastelands just to make a buck. And I mean--chowing down on this spaghetti isn't that different from eating meat. I'm an omnivore, but I kept thinking that at least these pasta producers chose to die.
The suicide element gave this episode a poignant touch instead of turning it into an edgelord slog where the humanoids kill people and throw them in a meat grinder. Admittedly, the clones leaned in that direction, and that scene also shows how Rick struggles to understand the world outside himself. He doesn't react when the clones kill each other, but one of his daughters is a clone, and he'd be horrified if anything happened to her.
Tumblr media
On its own, "That's Amorte" is a great episode. However, when you take the whole series into account, the plot retreads the same old Morty narrative: Morty tries to do the right thing, it backfires, Rick dodges responsibility while antagonizing Morty to be petty, Rick gets stuck fixing everything and Morty tries to pretend it never happened.
I keep waiting for something good to happen to Morty. Rick has plenty of episodes where he makes positive changes: going to therapy ("Analyze Piss," "Air Force Wong"), improving his relationship with Jerry ("Final DeSmithation," "The Jerrick Trap"), trying to do right by Beth ("Bethic Twinstinct"), being kinder to Morty ("Full Meta Jackrick"), etc.
Season five doesn't emphasize his character development as much, but plenty of scenes show how much he's changing. Even season four has moments where he's gentler.
Rick's being his petty season-two self in "That's Amorte," but even here, he does the right thing by showing the world exactly what--and who--they're eating. In earlier seasons, he would've done that just to be an asshole. Here, I don't think that he was trying to torment people as much as he just knew that this spaghetti shitshow had to end.
Same with the spaghetti itself. He didn't feed it to the Smiths, then show them the dead body just to torture them. I think he genuinely wanted to share the spaghetti because it was delicious, but he also figured that they don't want to know where it comes from.
On a similar note, I enjoyed Rick's moments of physical gentleness. Great animation detail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Rick gets a little character development and saves the day again, and Morty gets...nothing. Just a rehash of old storylines. "Mortynight Run" in particular has almost the same plot, beat-for-beat.
"That's Amorte" touched on Morty's depression and his family's coldness toward him but didn't go further than that. Morty keeps cycling through the same issues with no resolution. He blows up in one episode, then shuts down the next. His attempts to do the right thing go astray. When's this kid going to catch a break?
Again, this episode isn't bad. It's funny, original and well-written and has a lot to say about ethics and capitalism. Still, I don't understand why reviews on other sites keep emphasizing Morty's character development because I didn't see much.
I will say that everyone's horror at where the spaghetti comes from was a great takedown of the meat industry. Everyone loves sausage, but nobody wants to see how it's made!
Still, next time we get a Morty episode, I hope that it says more about him and less about the world outside his cartoon.

Saitama, labeled a danger to society? (part 2)
Tumblr media
The fear on Sitch's face when he does not comprehend Saitama's true nature is something. He was just told of unimaginable feats from Saitama by Genos and verified by Blast and he's just shook. Humans have a tendency to fear what we do not understand and Saitama is very terrifying if one just looked at it from outsider's perspective during the time travel fiasco. Hero association employs many insanely strong heroes, but Saitama's strenght has crossed the invisible line of being abnormally strong and instead of being revered by the common folk who have no strenght to call their own, people start to fear him.
Warning: Long post ahead, half meta, half speculative fanfiction.
TW: psychosis on the speculation half
Disclaimer: I'm not a mental health specialist or a doctor, I just like writing meta.
Tumblr media
Blast, ever the pragmatist, logically suggest they would need to find out the limits of his strenght just to assess him but also points out that Saitama is not a malicious individual, so it's not a problem leaving him to roam around. But he too gets that Saitama is an unknown individual, but chooses that harrassing him is unrequired.
Sitch however, is entirely willing and ready to just throw Saitama into a jail, ditch the key and never let him out again if that gets him out of his hair. He also understands that people would be against restraining a hero without any real wrongdoing, namely Genos, but he's definitely thinking about the greater good in this situation if Saitama was to actually become dangerous to them. He would naturally call upon Blast to handle the situation because nothing would be able to actually hold Saitama.
There are plenty allusions in the manga already that Saitama would be considered bad for heroes reputation and danger to society if left to roam unchecked (No time for this, cpt 19) and I feel like it's only a matter of time before something happens that makes him both an outcast and made out to be a villain, like a worse parody of the Sea king fiasco.
Tumblr media
(It already kinda happened but we just reverted time, so it's fiiinnee... right? Right??)
People already vilify him a lot on internet/social media and it's doubtful the public opinion in general will be better, despite some naysayers whom he has helped personally vouching for his character. Trying to blow up his own planet did not earn him any points either, it'll just confirm to everyone who becomes privy of that information and believes it that if he snaps completely, he'd be a ginormous liability, any issues he has and the situation be damned. Heck, Saitama confirms that Hammerhead was let down by society and if he had taken one wrong step, he'd have ended up just like him.
Tumblr media
If Blast actually witnesses Saitama's true character that he's a nice guy at heart, just comes with issues, it would be up to him to testify and speak up on his behalf because he's the number 1 hero and people would listen to what he has to say.
So far, Saitama is actually lucky to be under the radar...public outcry could be intense. There would be no fans for him, he would only be feared if they actually knew. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
Tumblr media
This was expanded on a bit more in the anime. Normal, everyday C-B rank heroes just cannot comprehend the amount of destruction Saitama can do with his pinky finger. Sure, there are other extremely strong heroes like Tatsumaki around as well, but they have the good reputation to back up their good intentions and Hero association feels like they have the means to rein them down if necessary. Saitama has no such luxury and is well out of their league.
./end Meta
-*-
Now, I want to enter the realm of speculation because I thought of a possible scenario that may happen and it would greatly expand on the mental health issues Saitama has and what ONE likes to stress about in this manga. This'll be less like meta and more like fanfiction. This'll be a wild ride so buckle in.
TW: Psychosis
Lets imagine for a moment that the worst comes to pass and the entire mankind is seemingly vilifying and makes Saitama out to be an evil guy, on social media, protests, you get the gist. If the situation ever got that bad, Saitama might go down into psychosis just from lack of sleep for worrying so much about the situation surrounding him.
Psychosis is a condition of the mind or psyche that results in difficulties determining what is real and what is not real. Symptoms may include delusions and hallucinations, among other features.
Tumblr media
(Nightly ruminations are funny until you get insomnia and sleep deprivation lol)
It would not have to be true either, he would just have to believe it to be true in a delusion and his mind could logically come up with all sorts of paranoia. We've seen him vilified already during the Sea King, so it's not unprecedented. Just make it a thousand fold worse this time around.
If the call to action comes from Hero association, which already has a precedent and intent of restraining dangerous individuals which he has seen happen first hand (Psykos), he'd feel like he has no way to appeal to authority to prove he's not actually a bad guy. If hero association turns its back to him, who can be trusted? Police? Nah, they're ill equipped to deal with the situation and he's gotten suspicions in the past before, for no reason, so he has no reason to trust them all. (Pork cutlet bowl, Vol 7 extra)
Tumblr media
On top of that, any pro hero has access to the Hero association incarceration list as told by Fubuki, so Hero association in worst case scenario might just exacerbate the situation and make all the heroes think Saitama is some kind of a criminal that needs to be taken down. Too bad most don't know about Saitama's power and might even try to foolishly throw themselves against him, either because they don't know or they disbelieve what has been told about Saitama's insane power if that has spread out to the populace, possibly as means to blackmail him and take revenge. (McCoy)
Tumblr media
(You can probably see where this is going...just add a dose of corruption and drop an incarceration note and vola, you could criminalize any hero)
Situation could quickly become very divisive between the rare people who know Saitama and the public who knows not. But those who do not know him well enough, such as Tatsumaki, might feel like its injustice but not really know what to think about it.
Things would spiral down really fast if Saitama feels like he has nobody he can trust, so he would definitely try to escape the situation and run to the only person in the world he can really and truly trust to have his back in any situation: Genos.
Genos has proven time and time again that he will stand by Saitama no matter what and is... somehow not scared even a little bit after the time travel fiasco of his immense strenght. Oh Genos...
But I would not want to be in Genos' shoes when he finds out that he just became the last thread of sanity left for a person who can destroy planets if he sneezes badly. 😱
This is where Genos has to think really, really hard about that one promise he made to Saitama, to stick by him always.
Tumblr media
Genos' time is ticking down however, because Hero association has MOST DEFINITELY dispacted Blast to incarcerate Saitama so there is no chance he will cause any harm to anybody. Blast naturally understands the reasoning behind this and complies, he tried to restrain Cosmic Garou too and he would attempt the same with Saitama if he's amiable. (Squared, cpt 166.) Just chat with the guy a bit in another dimension, no harm no foul right? Makes sense right?
But Saitama is not of sound mind to chat no, he's desperate and in a bout of sleepless and depression induced psychosis filled to the brim with paranoia about everyone out to get him and if Blast knows and deciphers the situation accordingly, he would see that Saitama would resist and the situation would end up completely side-ways if he tried to force the issue and Saitama would accidentally punch the planet to smithereens.
Or...he might not see it...and force the issue anyway because it's important and Saitama is just being unreasonable. Just assuming the worst has happened and he was wrong to think Saitama is not malicious.
Genos has a choice to make here. Be loyal to Saitama who is scared out of his mind and defend his master from the number 1 hero and get utterly wrecked in the process because he definitely cannot win, further traumatising Saitama who would be watching from the sidelines and probably make it a certainty that Saitama would just avenge him and kill Blast in the process, proving everyone right.
Or...step aside and let Blast handle it, because if they successfully incarcerate Saitama, the situation could be resolved without bloodshed. He could talk to Saitama himself, reason with him and settle him down enough for a chat and de-escalate. But doing so would completely betray Saitama's trust in him and most definitely, he would be on the receiving end of Saitama's anger from this core betrayal.
For the first time in his life, Genos' eyes are wide open about Saitama and he's paralyzed by this decision.
And it would be Genos' choice in the end that would determine the fate of the world.
Tumblr media
Ok so now I'm totally entering the realm of fanfiction but hey. This be some wild speculation.
Because we have parallel worlds, we can play out both potential scenarios (thanks ONE). In the first scenario, Saitama might just kill Blast and then rewind time back in desperation because Genos is wrecked/dead too, realising it's not what he wanted to do but it would leave him traumatised.
If Genos chooses to betray him, he would react in anger and showcase some power, but ultimately he cannot bring himself to harm a hair on Genos' head and he flees the scene, but not before he tells Genos he won't ever see him again. Saitama punches his way to a place where nobody else is sure to get him, outside the laws of causality in hyperspace and vanishes. (Mentioned by Empty void in chapter 201, You Pass.) Blast almost gets an aneurysm because only Void was supposed to be able to do it and he has to alert the Blastice League because the situation just got completely out of his control and to expect the absolute worst.
(The place where dreams end, rewritten chapter 195)
Tumblr media
And this is where the actual doomsday begins, when OPM God swoops in to claim his ultimate prize, ripe for the picking. Saitama was delivered right onto his lap.
Vulnerable and easily manipulated to just accept the situation as having been abandoned by every single person on earth, Saitama would accept God's proposal to change it all. He would teach Saitama how to manipulate the laws of causality to make his own world where this never happened and he could live happily ever after. Saitama's greatest wish has just always been to help people and he could create his own utopia, with no monsters. He is definitely strong enough for that, he is limitless. He always wanted to become a hero to help the weak, but this would allow him to get to the heart of the issue, so that people need not be rescued at all. There is a glimmer of hope in the darkness.
Saitama takes God's hand and OPM ends on a doomsday and OPM God wins.
...
Just kidding, Saitama rewinds back in time because he has to tell Genos how sorry he is about everything that happened before he leaves his life for good and Genos and Blast are just flabbergasted about what he's even talking about. Saitama also thinks he left the stove on in his haste and asks Genos to get it for him so his entire apartment complex doesn't burn down.
Saitama attempts to leave but Genos stops him this time, asks what is wrong and Blast remains confused and Genos correctly deduces Saitama must've time traveled again. Saitama just stares blankly because it has been a rollercoaster and he just says he wants to be alone. Genos insists on not leaving his side, Blast watches carefully and then Saitama just breaks down and starts blabbing about the entire thing, eventually gets tired and passes out because he hasn't been sleeping well for a month, kept awake by anxiety and overactive brain.
Genos opts to carry him back to a safe zone (King's place?) and Blast portals them to avoid people noticing. Genos calls reinforcements like Fubuki to adress Saitama's flailing mental health.
./end crazy fanfiction speculation.
Grats for making it to the end and thank you all for reading. :D *Cough* I can't keep my fanfiction out of metas it seems but I apparently can't help but (over)share.
Part 1 of the meta in question where I too speculate about stuff that may happen.

Disney's post-Renaissance: An alternate Timeline
Tumblr media
Round 3 of my alternate universes involving Disney eras. I should note, though: given that I made the AU for the revival era first, it exists independent of my AUs for the renaissance and post-renaissance eras, which exist together here. BE WARNED: as someone who lived during this era, it's one I am not a big fan of, so I'm making a bunch of changes based on my own opinion; while the renaissance era AU had additions, the post-renaissance AU has deletions/replacements.
Tumblr media
Fantasia 2000--The film turns out the same as it did in the OG timeline (perhaps better box office, though), but in this version, the animation style for "The Firebird Suite" leaves an immediate impact on audiences.
Tumblr media
Kingdom of the Sun--In this AU, "Pocahontas" (named "Amonute" in my AU) had more financial returns and the screening of KOTS had better audience feedback, so the concern of a serious, ambitious film wasn't a problem for Disney--though they did replace Huaca with Kronk for some light-heartedness. Despite all odds, Disney is able to crank out an original Incan musical epic. A spoiled king trades places with a lookalike peasant, but when the king is kidnapped and the peasant is blackmailed by the royal vizier to become a figurehead for her to rule through, they must get help from a kindhearted noblewoman and a tough female guard. If they fail, the kingdom could very well become the Kingdom of the Shadows. While the casting of non-Indigenous or Latino actors did earn some negative press (unless you want to imagine that they made this a priority to cast Latino actors), the film received overall praise and comparisons to renaissance-era films which hadn't been seen for a little while now. The film grossed roughly $400 million at the box office and gained positive critical reception, with a sequel series focusing on more twin hijinks, and Yzma's nephews Zim and Zam are used a bit more to balance them out. The king (called Manco) and his love interest join the Disney Princess/Disney Prince lineup.
Tumblr media
Atlantis: The Lost Empire--Due to the success of "Kingdom of the Sun," "Atlantis" was retooled in two ways: it was to be made a musical, and more focus would be put on the magical aspects of Atlantis instead of the technology aspects. Needless to say, this caused quite a bit of ruckus in production one year out, but they pulled through with $350 million at the box office and received a sequel direct-to-video film shortly after. Kida and Milo joined the DP lineup, but James Arnold Taylor dubs most of Milo's subsequent appearances. That said, it was surmised that the film might've made more had it been 3D, given the growing demand for the style.
Tumblr media
Lilo & Stitch--Mostly the same, but Nani and Lilo's relationship gets more attention (in the OG film, it was important, but the B-story to Lilo and Stitch's relationship), as well as more Disney references and appearances as shown via the parody trailers. The latter detail set the stage for the cameos in "Ralph Wrecks the Internet." The film meets roughly the same success, but it gains a little bit more thanks to previous films being more successful.
Tumblr media
Treasure Planet--Mostly the same, but a crucial change is made. Given the ambition the film had already with it's story and plans to combine 2D and 3D animation, the developers noted the change in atmosphere in the animation landscape (notably with the feedback from "Atlantis") and decided to make the film completely 3D instead. While this disappoints some fans, it's financially a smarter decision, making $300 million at the box office and Disney greenlighting a straight-to-DVD sequel (and a rumored TV series that never materialized).
Tumblr media
Brother Bear--Given that "The Lion King" is with humans in this AU and "Amonute" got more praise, CEO Michael Eisner suggested a combination of the films, making another Native American musical and using animal motifs. Seeing how all their musicals had been 2D up to now, this art style was kept to not risk losing the core audience. Noting the positive feedback of the sibling relationships in "Kingdom of the Sun" and "Lilo & Stitch," they push forward with a story about three brothers who go on a journey for Kenai, the youngest, to discover his true self after being bestowed a bear totem, which he attributes to being a premonition of a poor future. In a flip to the common trope of female leads being able to speak with animals, once the brothers receive their totems, they are able to do so as well--except for Kenai, who vehemently resents and rejects his totem. The film grosses over $350 million with praise for it's depiction of Native American culture, though there was concern about the use of spirit animals being misconstrued.
Tumblr media
Rumpelstiltskin--In 2004, Disney released a powerful tale of motherhood, focusing on a young queen named Aurelia who finds her fairy tale happy ending thanks to her ability to spin straw into gold and save the kingdom from poverty. However, things go awry when a clever warlock appears and reveals that the queen isn't as graceful, clever, or skillfull as she had pretended, as he had helped her gain the king's favor, and now was taking their child as payment for it. Paying homage to classic Disney films (the animation style and storytelling is reminiscent of "Sleeping Beauty,"), the musical concerns Aurelia racing to find this creature who stole her child, as well as the name that could banish him once and for all. The film has been labeled "twisted Disney" due to Rumpelstiltskin changing his form to several darker versions of iconic Disney characters. Like with "Beauty and the Beast" (in my AU), they took influence from the film "Labyrinth," with the writers for the film researching child abduction for a more authentic and moving piece. The film's darkness made it a dark horse at the box office, grossing similar numbers to the other musicals, though it's still viewed as underrated; Aurelia was originally placed within the Disney princess line, but subsequently removed due to her physical similarities to Princess Aurora and their similar names, as well as the fact that Aurelia was a queen and controversially referred to as "too old" to join the line (both points are a source of contention among fans).
Tumblr media
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe--Released in 2005 and sometimes just marketed as "Narnia," Disney had been inspired to make the film following the success of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," though they originally planned to relocate the film to America instead of England, which eventually fizzled out. The animation style is heavily influenced by the animation style for "The Firebird Suite" from "Fantasia 2000" in order to truly transport the audience. The film plays off mostly the same as the OG timeline with similar figures (and let's assume the OG cast was re-used, with singing voices when needed; it was mostly the magical creatures who sang in the film to give Narnia a fairy tale vibe while the Pevensies were "real" people), becoming somewhat of a phenomenon thanks to it's large box office and nostalgia for fans of the book. Jadis was seen as a blueprint for Elsa later on, and Lucy was seen as too young to join the Disney princess line.
Tumblr media
Tam Lin--Released in 2006, Disney made a musical based on the folktale "Tam Lin," about a young woman who vows to rescue a man from the queen of the fairies. Given that the subject matter was similar to "Rumpelstiltskin" and this was their FOURTH musical in a row, Disney was concerned about taking on the tale and having to top (or at least meet) previous successes. As such, they did several things: the film embraces the Scottish background in contrast to previous European-esque fantasy films that went for a less clear atmosphere; the female protagonist, named Máirín, is a shy loner in comparison to the outgoing Disney females, while the male protagonist, named Sachairi, was a bit more rugged and mature than previous Disney males, inspired by video game leads like Chris Refield and Solid Snake; the story also takes influence from several other Scottish tales, such as "Rushen Coatie," and "The Sea-Maiden." The result led to a story about a woman who ventures to save the kingdom with her trusty red cow when the prince is kidnapped and imprisoned by a wicked selkie. The film earned praise for it's reliance on a specific European culture (even if some details were incorrect) and grossed $400 at the box office. Along with this, Máirín was originally intended to be a redhead, but her design eventually opted for dark brown hair, with Snow White and Natalie Portman as influences (though Pixar did use this for their own Scottish princess). As one might've expected, Máirín and Sachairi join the Disney royal line.
Tumblr media
Meet the Robinsons--Pretty much the same film, though perhaps it makes a bit more money due to the fact that it's the first non-musical Disney film in 5 years and people were curious to know if musicals was all they were good at.
Tumblr media
Night and Day--Released in 2008 after much turmoil, Disney comes up with a musical loosely inspired by "The Frog Princess" and "The Nightingale," the film revolves around a Korean prince who ventures with a magpie to find the secrets of immortality to save his ailing father. The film was more comedic in tone than previous musicals, but ironically seen as one of Disney's more intimate and emotional films, particularly between shy Prince Jiyu and Sujin (the magpie turned human), and it's praise for accuracy for Korean culture--except certain details like linguistics. It's noted that "Avatar: The Last Airbender" was a heavy influence, and while financially successful (making about $300 million), it's seen as underrated in contrast to the success reached during the revival era. But at least Sujin and Jiyu joined the Disney royal line.
Hope you don't mind me re-writing your childhood! My rewrite stuff with the Disney eras is probably done, but maybe I'll rewrite the concept of their direct-to-DVD films sometime.

I love this scene. This is the invocation scene from Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters (which got an animated adaptation from the BBC). Wyrd Sisters is one of the Discworld books, which is a comedic fantasy book series set on a fantastical flat planet held up by four elephants on the back of a giant turtle floating through space. It mostly pokes fun of other fantasy stories and is very fun but is mostly sweet and wholesome, for example Hogfather is a bit of a Nightmare before Christmas parody where The Grim Reaper has to do Hogswatch (their world's version of Christmas) one year. Wyrd Sisters deals with a Maiden Mother and Cr... Queen, witch trinity, and in this scene they invoke a demon for information and the demon is not quite what you may expect.

The answer to my poll
Re mispellings: for people who thought I did this on purpose to trick you, you are giving me way too much credit. It wasn’t a trick question I just didn’t check the spellings.
For the people who keep telling me. I’m a pedantic nerd I get the urge to correct spelling, it doesn’t really matter. I did not expect this to blow up I thought like two people would see it. My mistake, I’m aware.
(Some spoilers)
Read till the end for a surprise!
1. Max Rebo-Real-it’s a crying shame people don’t recognize renound jizz wailer Max Rebo, people these days have no culture. RIP Max you would’ve loved Chapelle Roan.
Tumblr media
Sy Snootles-Real-The myth, the legend, the icon.
Tumblr media
Hondo Ohnaka-Real-Basically Star Wars does Captain Jack Sparrow, one of my favorite characters. (Piping hot take, he’s basically better Han Solo, I am prepared to be dragged through the comments for this opinion.)
Tumblr media
Cham Syndulla-Real-people kept saying that they recognized the last name, but not the first of one of the characters. It’s either this one or another character below. He is a rebel Twi’lek who fought in the Clone Wars and later lead the Free Ryloth movement to liberate his home world (Ryloth) from the Empire. He is pretty isolationist and doesn’t like to work with the larger rebellion, which is why he clashes with his daughter Hera who is a rebel pilot, general and leader of Specter Cell.
Tumblr media
Biggs Darklighter-Real-A lot of people thought he was a parody of Luke Skywalker, which is hilarious, but he is real, he was Luke’s best friend from Tatooine. And was in some cut New Hope Scenes. He joined the Imperial Academy, then defected to the rebellion. Where he as killed at the battle of Yavin. Most importantly he has a glorious mustache.
Tumblr media
We’ll come back to Tula Bonobo who many of you correctly pointed out was the fake.
Owen Lars-Real-Has the distinct honor of having the most boring name in Star Wars; He is Luke’s Uncle who raises him when dear old dad goes a little murdery. Sadly dies by way of being related to a fantasy protagonist on their heroes journey. A fate for 9/10 fictional uncles.
Tumblr media
Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios-Real-Ah a Tumblr favorite, Zeb is one of the last surviving Lasat after the Empire massacred his planet. He is a member of Spector Cell. He of course (and this is 100% canon cause I said so) flies off into the sunset with his husband Kallus at the end of the Rebels T.V. Show.
Tumblr media
Elan Sleezbagano-Real- yes, he’s actually real. He tries to sell drugs to Obi-Wan Kenobi, that is all.
Tumblr media
Qui-Gon Jinn-Real-Obi-Wan’s hippie Jedi master a real go with the force kinda guy. Get’s shish kebabed in Phantom Menace by Darth Maul. Kinda responsible for ruining the galaxy because he found little orphan death machine-Anakin Skywalker. Played by Liam Nissan (fun fact he is so tall they had to spend thousands of dollars raising the sets to accommodate him.) Is also missing his true calling as a hair model.
Tumblr media
Zevulon Veers-Real-The only character I spell checked the name on, his father, Maximillion Veers, was an Imperial officer during the battle of Hoth. (The other character people may have recognized the last name, but not the first.) He defected to the rebellion. (Family reunions must have been awkward)
Mace Windu-Real-Got killed by being thrown out a window (cause Star Wars.) One of the most powerful Jedi and the leader of the Jedi Order. Played by Samuel L. Jackson, and has a purple lightsaber, (Bad guys always have red, good guys, blue or green.) But are you going to say no to Sam Jackson? Legend has it that he has “Motherfucker” inscribed on his saber hilt in Aurebesh (the Star Wars language.)
Tumblr media
Now we get to as many guessed the fake name Tula Bonobo, a Bonobo is just a real animal that exists. I wasn’t trying to hide this fact. I shuffled through a few first names before landing on Tula. I think it sounds vaguely Star Warsy. And c’mon between Tula and Sleezebagano, which sounds more like the fake?
And now my confession: A wise squid-man once said “it’s a trap” and this indeed was a dirty trick…
Gather around children while I tell you a story. So last year I took an anthropology class, did I have any interest in that subject, no, but I needed the credits. It was difficult, but I liked the professor. And admist the boring reports on pre-historic fossils, I hit gold. I feel it’s high time the internet was re-introduced to this documentary of Liam Niesan narrating about ape sex. The meme potential is limitless. Have fun and use responsibly internet. You’re welcome.

Planar Tour Guide: The Negative Energy Plane part 1
Tumblr media
(art by REYKAT on DeviantArt)
Last time, we looked at the light and the infinite genesis of new life and energy… and now we look at the counterpoint, the darkness, the void.
When the positive energy plane was created by concentrating the ambient potential for life into a single point to spark the creation of that eternal cosmic star, the energy required for the concentration had to come from somewhere, an area of emptiness that yearns to be filled once more but never can be because of the way that planar boundaries work. This was the negative energy plane.
Sometimes called the Void, the Nothing, Entropy’s Heart, or the Final End, the sheer absence that defines the plane is an all-consuming thing, devouring life and most matter that enters it. It is the cold end, the heat-death of the universe as applied to matters of the soul.
However, the Void is far from simply a leftover from the creation of the cosmos, far from it. The plane serves multiple functions. Firstly, it’s yawning hunger serves as the cosmic pull that keeps the River of Souls flowing, like how it is the gravity of worlds and stars that allow orbits to be possible. Secondly, the existence of the plane defines negative energy and the concept of entropy. With it, mortals grow old and die, civilizations crumble, and even the most perfect machines lose integrity and break down. That may seem like a bad thing, but that finality drives mortals to actually live their lives, chasing their goals and reveling in the experience of existence before it ends and what was gives way to what will be.
However, negative energy is an ultimately consumptive force, and must be treated with caution. Whether it be by necromancer’s design, strong negative emotion after death, or even a tragic infusion of the very same energies, this entropic force can be twisted into the role of animation, creating undead as a grim parody of life defined by consumption and destruction. Heck, on the negative energy plane, those consumed by the hungry dark tend to rise as wraiths, but not the familiar kind that we think of. Instead, such undead are more like negative echoes, reverse imprints where a soul once was after being utterly destroyed. Meanwhile, more powerful undead can linger for much longer, including the worst and most terrible undead creatures: the nightshades, or darvakka, which are the shadows left behind by powerful fiends that venture into the darkest depths of the plane and are consumed utterly, their foolish bid for power turning them into something with monstrous hunger and no loyalty to their former wicked cause.
However, for all it’s emptiness, the plane does have it’s own non-undead denizens, such as the jealous and hateful sceanduinar and their kin, as well as the all-consuming oblivion oozes. Meanwhile, rare structures do also exist, such as crystalline structures of compressed entropy, as well as matter brough in from the material plane, ranging from small bits of earth to the keeps of powerful liches and even entire planets, all slowly eroding away save for whatever magical protection can be mustered.
With even the act of entering without protection being certain death and worse, not to mention the antipathy of most denizens, it can be hard to imagine why any being would visit such a plane willingly, but we’ll see over the course of the week exactly what Entropy’s Heart has to offer.

So I’ve been thinking of the EarthSpark children’s books again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Besides the Guidebook, these two seem to be the only ones out atm that are original stories and not recaps/adaptions of episodes of the cartoon. I personally prefer original stories set roughly during the cartoon’s universe, and to no one’s surprise I’m naturally a big fan of the RiD15 books being all original stories.
Tumblr media
However, my nitpick with the EarthSpark books is they’re too short and … safe. There’s no real conflict or if there is one, like Racetrack Recon, it’s resolved instantly…
Now kids books or not, I think most of us want some kind villain for the Autobots to fight, which the RiD books excelled in. My favorites being Scuzzard from above, Liege Maximo starting trouble because he was bored and needed a cheap thrill, and Drift meeting up with his old Decepticon crew. So what can the EarthSpark books do?
Well for starters:
Tumblr media
Use Swindle. He’s perfect for low scale conflict, and you can get a lot of mileage out of him starting trouble with a guest star that the Terrans have to stop. Obviously you could experiment with other villains besides him, but still.
Book idea 1: Items have been going missing from Witwicky. The culprits are Swindle and Chop Shop.
Tumblr media
Besides trying to make a quick buck, they also seek to steal important GHOST tech to benefit the Decepticons still roaming the Earth. Dot and Optimus have to keep Croft and Schloder distracted so the Terrans can put a stop to Chop Shop’s kleptomania.
Book Idea 2: The Decepticons need energy if they plan to still take over Earth and stick it to Megatron and GHOST. Swindle, seeing an opportunity to make some moolah, gets Octane and RatBat to join him on a fuel syphoning scheme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like it’d be a Jawbreaker and Grimlock story as a gag on fossil fuel.
Book Idea 3: Revision of Recon where Swindle fixes the race using the RiD15 originated Stunticons. I already talked about this one.
Book Idea 4: Tarantulas runs afoul of an old lab partner, the insane Autobot scientist Flame.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(For a potential toy, I feel Flame would be a hybrid design of these two, taking more from the one on the right for ease of toy design.) Flame, fed up with the humans treatment of Transformers, decides to release a Cyber-Virus bio weapon Tarantulas developed during the Great War, and use it to Cyber Form Earth into something more palatable. Tarantulas needs Nightshade, Wheeljack and Hashtag’s help in a race against the clock to defeat Flame’s mad ambitions. Akin to RiD15 Grimlock with Simacore, Nightshade gets their first arch rival in Flame.
Book Idea 5: Nightshade and Sam team up to take down crime in Philadelphia, playing up a bit of the superhero side to the owl. Playful parody of 60’s Batman, using Animated supervillains like Angry Archer and Nanosec.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The supervillains are part of a larger scheme by the Decepticon Malignus.
Tumblr media
Of which Nightshade and Sam need to call in the rest of the “Teen Terrans” and Bumblebee to help deal with.
Book Idea 6: Optimus Prime’s trailer/Combat Deck starts malfunctioning and causing a rampage around town, causing a headache for GHOST and the Autobots.
Tumblr media
It’s discovered the jailhouse Decepticons implanted a computer virus into the trailer via Bombshell’s Cerebro Shells to spite the Autobots. Twitch, Robbie and Hashtag have to jack in and defeat the computer virus within, Kremzeek, in a video game showdown while Jawbreaker, Mo, Thrash, Nightshade and Megatron try to contain the Combat Deck on the outside. There’s a fun visual of Roller effortlessly pulling the trailer around town in its rampage.
Book Idea 7: GHOST develop their own Navi program in TORQ III from studying Cybertronian technology and Teletraan 1.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A hybrid of the G1 episode, Marvel UK’s Raiders of the Last Ark, and TFP’s Flying Mind, TORQ finds GHOST inefficient and seeks to apprehend every remaining Decepticon on the planet with his own methods, regardless of the consequences to the Autobots, and humans like the Maltos. Optimus, Elita and Megatron have to stop TORQ and his mind controlled Decepticons from starting a new Machine War.
Book Idea 8: The elusive Mirage, based on the RotB version with his body being closer to RiD01 Mirage, returns and pays a visit to the Malto household to see what all the hubbub is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mirage, Robbie and Thrash become fast friends, and team up to put a stop to the latest scheme of Swindle’s. Battletrap, Transit and Scorponok are present as part of further RotB synergy.

i saw some draw humanstuck art today and drew meenah white, every single comment under the post was everyone saying “whitestck”, “white meenah scares me..” and someone even said “they whitewashed her..” you can’t white wash an alien with gray skin..
these are the same kind of hypocrites that when you ask them what the hell even makes meenah, the fucking alien, "black coded" they will then reveal their own racism through their very own reasoning, because they associate, for example, meenahs aggressiveness with black people, instead of associating it to the canon fact that all female trolls are aggressive and that hic was a violent genocidal conqueror of planets.
or another one ive seen, that Gamzee is "black coded" because the "coding" was he was portrayed as an, and I quote, "impossible to understand, dirty, drug-addled, ugly, stupid teen with an absent father and a religious devotion to rap/hip hop. Impossible to take seriously, until he becomes a violently abusive murderer because he got his drugs taken away"
but no, the real issue is the artist depicting the troll called sea hitler or the troll parodying ICP, two white rappers, as white... make it make fucking sense
id ask these people if they are americans and if they also believe that trolls speaking english makes them american in the first place, and if they say yes to both, then that also shows they are hypocrites again by their own logic
because, honestly and from what all of this tells me, not only some americans are racist enough to connect all these traits to a skin color, turning them into racial stereotypes, but also self-centered enough to miss that theyre doing exactly what "Americentrism" describes. judging an entire different culture, a planet of fucking ALIENS, as if its the USA, and centering everything around america and their issues as if their standards are the only valid interpretation of the story and characters.
and because all of this disgusting mindset is even encouraged by the current writer teams too, reminder that the hicu writers revealed that they made earth c to be literally just texas as an entire planet.
Pretty much. They say it is racist that Meenah is stereotyped black-coded. But if you headcanon them as anything else, it's racist still. At this point, what the fuck do these people want?! But yeah, most Westerners are self centered assholes. Why else they even go after stuff like anime/manga/video games and try to change the stuff there? Because they can't accept cultural differences that aren't United States. They can't accept some places have different moral standards than others. Technically, it was WHATPUMPKIN, not HICU, that made Earth C's flag just similar to Texas's. But it is still a point that James Roach and HICU do not want retcon or get rid of it. They want to """respect"""" the people who had worked on it. But considering the team behind it, why the fuck would you give them any benefit of the doubt?! TELL ME! James Roach and HICU were better off doing a hard ass reboot and wiped everything the previous team had made, out of existence. It is better than building on top of or dragging along the damage made within HS2/Beyond Canon. Because it just reminds people of the horrible past and the people behind it. Some may even think James Roach and HICU continuing to go along with it, means they technically still support people like Andrew Hussie and Kate Mitchell. And not just business standpoint, like they support them in beliefs and ideology.

Digimon Frontier - Episode 39
DIGIMON. IN. SPAAAAACE. -echo- space~ space~
A filler-ish episode, but a decent one. I was really confused for the first 5 minutes or so lol. Didn't expect them to end up on the moon.
Has this franchise gone to space yet? I honestly don't remember. There have been a lot of void-like spaces and fighting midair so it kinda feels like that's happened already. (Sorry if I'm being dumb and forgetting something really obvious lol)
Notes:
Lol they really tried to tell me that that slightly whiter Gotsumon was "Insekimon..." riiight. (If you look at the concept art in the wiki, one of their distinguishing features is one faces the left and the other faces the right lmao). The dub did the right thing and was like "nah, that's Gotsumon." I would have at least preferred if they called them MeteorGotsumon or something. (Wait, are meteors even white?)
So if the digital world is parallel to our world, does the moon in this episode imply that the digital universe is also parallel? Like, are there other planets aside from the digital world one that mirror our planets? I need the lore!
The sub version had some really unfitting guitar/rock music playing in the background where Koichi was just kinda walking around. (I get that's probaly his theme or something but it was awkward). The dub's music seemed to fit a lot better.
SuperStarmon was cute. I like his American fringe lol. In the dub he was yet another Elvis parody (I get why, but pick another impression for once!)
Their attempts to jump back to the digital world were played for laughs but I was actually scared for them lol. That's dangerous!
Wtf kinda high level calculus was Junpei doing when calculating how to get back? Sure, it didn't work, but how does he even know about that at his age!?
Random thing to fixate on, but I wonder where Japan came across the English phrase "hop step jump?" Tomoki uses it in this episode and I've heard it in a ton of anime by now.
What exactly is Lucemon's strategy here? "Let's destroy the planet that I want to rule." Whaa...? Is there even going to be anything left for him to rule? The royal knights apparently are aiming for the human world (that kinda came outta nowhere, but okay).
I learned watching this episode that "pachinko" means "slingshot." Fun fact of the day!
They had the whole cast sing one of the insert songs in the sub this time. I always love it when anime do that :) such a nice touch
